There is also plenty to do in the area and the hotel is very close to Duluth.We stayed at this hotel in the tower rooms, big comfy bedding,excellent view and good food at the buffet. For the almost $400 I paid for 2 nights I expected quite a bit more cleanliness. We had no problems with our room, the beds and pillows were comfortable.horrid horrid horrid rooms. Staff at the slot club were very friendly. No brosted chicken on the dinner buffet but the prime rib was great!
I did appreciate all the pillows and comfy bed . My biggest disappointment was the noise. Woodwork coming off in spots or worn. Checked in to our room the carpets are stained/dirty, the sheets are stained with something red, and there was dust build up all along the bed frame.The toilet didn't look like it had been washed with hair underneath the seat! Nasty rooms!!! Great hotel with nice rooms and a wonderful casino. Bear Mail Hotel offers are now accepted at Royal Pines Inn and First American Hotel & Suites! Ruined whole evening waiting for room as didn't get keys until 545.

We stayed in the tower. We stayed in a non smoking "suite" and it smelt like we were in a smoking room. Also free WIFI for those which was great!my family stayed at black bear casino /motel in august 2011. we enjoyed our stay very much,the food was great and very reasonably pricedas was the room.great location for shopping in duluth.nice arcade and pool area for kids as i had two with me.pool side rooms are noisy so get a suite by the pool less noise and more room to move also comes with a pullout couch and 2beds..will definetly go back to this place ,the room rates are greatly priced...and very clean&comfortable.the casino is nice also..We wanted a nice getaway and we found it. Never again!We drove over to Black Bear Casino from Duluth for a little gambling fun.
Been here 100+ times . -1 star, however, for the up to an hour wait to get in, but the blackjack and poker tables were always busy, so my needs were met.Black Bear Casino Resort, located in beautiful Carlton, Minnesota, offers an exhilarating location with over 1800 slot machines, a 550-seat bingo hall and live blackjack 24 hours a day. They have plenty of parking out front with a row of handicap near the front of the parking lot by the casino entrance. Entry way appears descent however, rooms were gross, dirty, old, beat up and run down. Don't forget to join the slot club just around the corner from the entrance. We were in the tower on the 5th floor. There are several restaurants in the casino, but we did not eat while visiting. Looking forward to staying here again. The key here is you HAVE to stay in the Tower. I stayed here, ate at the buffet, and my dad gambled.
People were smoking out in the hallway. We could clearly hear conversations in the hallways, and every footstep and door slam on our floor and the floor above.
