Amazingly, it took three people to write this. So so so so so so bad..... in EVERY way imaginable. This is grim fair indeed I'm afraid, presumably to cash in on the Pacific Rim. I knew it was going to be rough when the title was Atlantic Rim, and the damn movie is set in the Gulf of Mexico. Just about the worst Asylum movie ever. Then we get the weakest movie in Atlantic Rim. Binge Central you couldn't connect to any characters, they had no depth beyond their bios that were likely written by a toddler. the human element was missing from this movie. It perhaps also gives their film more credibility as it's soooo much better. I'm not sure how film makers are allowed to get away with this (literally and morally), but I guess in this instance there is no competition, so the makers of Pacific Rim probably aren't that arsed. there's one scene where everyone in the town is magically dead except one father who is wandering back and forth in a 30' space looking for his daughter who he knows is in the building he is standing in front of but instead of going in and saving her just walks around calling to her looking lost and confused. The Asylum have been capable of some tolerable movies and some movies that have a lot of flaws but have a dumb sort of fun(the recent Sharknado fitted in this category), then there are some that are lame but with its moments and some that are bottom-of-the-barrel.

Atlantic Rim might appear like a sequel, prequel, or spinoff to Pacific Rim but its not. wtf? My 7-year-old son said, "Dad, let's just watch it so see how bad it is."
